Street Art Project with Patmi NGO in Meghradzor, Armenia

In the summer of 2019, Sloast travelled to Armenia to work with Patmi Cultural NGO in Meghradzor, a rural Armenian village. Sloast lead a week-long workshop with the youth of the village (ages 6-20). The weeklong project began with art as self care exercises, body painting, continued with wheatpasting, and finally the painting of two large scale murals.

While in Armenia, Sloast teamed up with Kooyrigs, an online community for Armenians to come together and discuss cultural factors that affected them growing up as Armenians in Armenia and the diaspora . Collaborating with Kooyrigs, Sloast lead an art as self care workshop for Nor Luyce, a mentorship centre for young women, located in Gyumri, Armenia.

Sloast organized a queer community event at The Diving Bell Social Club and the adjacent Satellite City (Sloast's coworking space) which took place on June 8th, 2019. There were vendors, healing activities, workshops and performances happening throughout the day. The goal of the event was to promote LGBTQIA+ community members and give them a platform to share their work with a larger audience, as the event took place on St. Laurent during Montreal's famous Mural Festival.
